I recently purchased the elite with the batman/pure holiday bundle. This is my first xbox. I have not used it a whole lot yet. I have had good luck with it so far though. Also, this is the newer Jasper unit. I know that has been a hot topic for a while so I wanted to let everyone know that the newer chips are in these bundles.

I have owned about 3-4 xboxs in the past 3 years. I decided recently to sell my xbox 360 with the 60 gig hard drive to get the elite.
I was very happy to see the price drop to 299.99 with 2 bundled games. Although I was upset that they no longer included the HDMI cable. Its nice knowing that this system is the much looked for “jasper” chipset. I have been playing call of duty modern warfare ALOT! I played for about 8 hours the first day and my elite didn’t even get warm.
I will say when playing a game, or watching a dvd the xbox runs very loud. It sounds like the system is working really hard, like a cheap dvd player from walmart. Which came as a surprise since my old 60 gig bundled system didn’t have this problem
Overall If you are looking into making the switch, or have been wanting a 360 this is the best deal. You don’t have to worry about “RROD” You get a 120gig which is plenty for downloading games, demos, movies, saving and so on. You also get 2 games. I haven’t played legos batman, but I have played pure. Pure has amazing graphics and really shows the 360 graphics.
The only reasons its not 5 stars.
-Loud system when playing or watching movies
-No HDMI cable-regular AV cables are included
-No wifi Must by 99$ adapter-ripoff from MS
So I recommend making the switch.

First of all, I’m a PS3 owner and have been nearly since it’s launch. I really love the PS3 and think it’s a great system. I had considered buying a 360 many times but kept passing over it after hearing of all the problems it had and just figured I didn’t want to deal with the chances. Well after seeing this bundle with the new price cut and finding out this bundle is definitely the latest “Jasper” version I went ahead and purchased it. The two included games aren’t exactly *amazing* but they’re still pretty good and it’s definitely a good deal to get both of them included for no added cost.
So far I’ve noticed the system does seem to run a good bit cooler than my brothers original launch model 360. I’m also really enjoy the new menu system for the 360. Or maybe I should say newer, I’m not sure when it came out, but I prefer it over the older “tabbed” style menu previously used. Overall I believe now is a great time to grab a 360. Since it has been out longer than the PS3 you do have access to more titles and more titles that are cheap. Some of the systems best games can easily be picked up for $29.99 now. The ability to use Netflix on the system is also really amazing. The menu system and the integration to the Xbox menu is top notch, it definitely doesn’t feel like an after thought.
Thus far my only gripe with the system is how Microsoft uses it’s point system for purchasing items. I much prefer just buying a game for say $6.99 from the Playstation Network than more or less being forced to buy considerably more points than you need to be able to grab one game. For example, you want to purchase a game that’s 1200 points, guess what the smallest you can add is 1000 so you’re then forced to jump up to 4000 points (which I believe equals twenty dollars) to be able to get the game. You’re then left with odd point amounts and it’s really just a pain! It seems pretty deliberate to grab more money out of consumers.

I have a PS3, a Wii, and this Xbox 360. By far the best for gaming is the 360. My wife plays the Wii, I play the 360, and we use the PS3 for media and movies. I don’t like playstation controllers so I cant stand playing games on it. I love the 360 for gaming though. This Holiday bundle could have come with some better games but maybe they are marketing it to kids and that is why they chose these games. Christmas is coming up and every kid who doesn’t have a 360 will want one. With the holiday bundle you are guaranteed to get the newest version of the xbox which is supposed to be less likely to get the dreaded RROD. So fingers crossed I hope it lasts forever and never dies on me, but for right now I am enjoying this system a lot. Only negative thing I have to say about it is that it didn’t even come with component cables, only that yellow video cable which sucks, you will want the component or an HDMI cable to get hi def gaming.

This is a review on both Arcade and the Elite Winter Bundle.
First I purchase an Arcade and sadly found out that it is much more expensive than a Pro or a PS3. After buying a hard drive 20 GB for $68, Wifi adapter $79, rechargeable batteries and charge station $33, wire headset $20, extra controller $38. So on top of the addition $216 for the Arcade I spent $180 for what I considered essential items and $58 for the other two items (wire headset, 2nd controller) for a total of $454 + $47(XBL x 2) = $548. Had I purchased a Pro I would only of saved $68 on a hdd and the total would of been $480, but would have a 60 GB hdd vs a 20 GB.
The Arcades’ DVD Rom is very loud and annoying, especially at night when the TV volume is turned down. The only way to fix this is to install the game onto the hard drive, soon after that I found out that 20 GB is not enough space for much. How much is a 20 GB HDD worth, about two games and some demos. So even though its a good option that the Xbox has over the PS3(installing a game onto the HDD), its actually an necessity as it will make the system almost PS3 silent and as cool as a PS3. Also it would be prolonging the live of the Xbox (RROD). Also, you still need to put the game into the DVD Rom drive in order to play off the HDD.
Now the Elite Winter Bundle…
Purchase this bundle due to needing more hdd space and Netflix offering $50 off the $300 also the fact that I own two PS3s helped in making that decision as well. I have no real use for two Xbox 360 as I already use my PS3 for Blu-ray/DVD, and gaming. So was going get rid of the Arcade due to me hearing that this version runs Quieter, Cooler, and has less RROD issues!
So to add insult to injury, wouldn’t you know that Microsoft requires you to purchase a $13 cable in order to transfer save purchased items from one HDD to another HDD. On top of that I/you can only do it once as I can no longer transfer my purchases to another HDD unless its’ of greater capacity (i.e.; 250 GB). Well if the 120 GB cost an absurdly $145, could you imagined what the 250 GB would cost?
What’s $13 anyway, right? Well considering that not only did I purchase two Xbox 360′s which should be suffice, but all of the accessories that I have purchase (Wifi, Recharageble batteries, XBL x2, 20gb HDD, etc). Which come very close to $1000 not including any games! I don’t think it is right nor fair that Microsoft would still charge any customer any more money even if it is just $0.01 more. And another thing, Microsoft would like for you to discard the “only $13 cable” once your items are transferred…yeah right that’s going to happen!
I had the Elite for about 1 month now and too soon to give a real review on it. The games that come with it are not great but I guess it would be good for small kids 9yr or younger. The new Elite DVD Rom is not as loud as the older models, but still noticeably louder than a PS3. So installing the games onto the HDD is a necessity IMHO. Good thing I now have 120 GB which is better but not great. Maybe its just me, but I still could use more! Could of purchase the MW2 Bundle but that cost $150 (not sure of Netflix $50 discount are available), and I don’t need the extra controller, don’t need COD as I will get it for PS3 and use the Xbox for exclusives only and $150 for just 130gb is not worth for me!
